The Singing String

The Singing String. A Work in Progress.
The Singing String is a Children's novel targeted to children ages 10 - 14. The novel has been in progress for two years and I intend to spend one more year working on it before beginning the querying process. In this novel I have attempted to tackle several big questions and things I am passionate about, namely: Christian Faith, operatic singing, family struggles and dynamic changes, adoption/fostering, and the girlhood experience. Thank you so much for your interest in this project. I will be sure to share more about its production in my newsletter, so be sure to sign up!
Book Blurb
All Paisley wants is a life guided by sameness. The same house. The same school. The same friends. She would even settle for her sort of sameness. A sort of normal where her mother sings magic into existence and her brother watches transfixed. Where her father's operatic voice clings to the walls and bleeds through the floorboards.
But sameness is not possible.
Paisley has magic that she does not want, generationally tied to her maternal family line. When her magic is exposed for the fifth time, her family must pack up all their possessions and forget everyone they ever knew. Again. No contact. That's just how it always was. Moving, moving, moving, with no place to truly put down roots. But, when they finally get to the new town—one of six in her short thirteen years of life—Paisley discovers a new and horrible magic that could uproot her family for good.
What will she do when faced with the decision to give up or keep her generational heritage? What happens when everything she thought she knew about her abilities is tested by magic more ancient than anything she's ever known? And what about the mysterious boy she meets when all hope seems lost?
